Oh, Jockey, you're so fine, so fine you blow my mind I just might let you come into my life and waste my time
It'll be easy they said. Just a simple starter quest they said.
Jockey is gullible. Jockey is also new to all of this. So, when a player gives her tips she foolishly believes them at their word. Rumor had it that there was a special quest that would pop up out in the forest once the player catches the mob tied to it. Unfortunately, the mob was notoriously difficult to catch. It has eluded players since the dawn of time, an ultra rare mob that has terrorized the Serpent's Jaw since launch.
The Mind Goblin.
She vividly remembered the group of players laughing as this story was being told, possibly remembering the memories of them also chasing this mythical creature. Jockey got the sense that this was a quest everyone has tried to beat, but not many have accomplished. Now, she was determined to be the first. Wandering the forest, it was eerily silent minus the ambience of birds chirping and the creaking of Alpha Gaiden as it followed behind her. Most animals ran away as she neared, though that was probably due to the giant robot that Jockey still has figured out how to hide yet... Anyways, an hour has passed since our little pilot has stepped foot into the greatwood and not a single goblin has been sighted. Her lack of success weighs heavy on her.
"Hey Alpha, you see anything up there?" She stopped in her tracks and turned on her heel, facing towards her machinery. It didn't respond, obviously, but the comfort of the words reaching the air was truly all she needed in that moment. Regardless, she followed up with another statement. "Yeah, I didn't think so. Maybe there's somebody else out here too, hm?" And with that, she kept her eyes peeled. Or more peeled than they were previously, but any more peeling and they might fall out.
[attr="class","liliya-header-content"] HARGRAVE[break]Level 009 GREAT SHIELDER
[attr="class","liliya-post-1"]
[attr="class","liliya-post-2"] Seven months had passed since the start of « ΔRK // FANTASY » and in those seven months, today was the second time that our resident dwarf had found himself passing through the Serpent's Jaw Greatwood. The first couple of times were back when the game had first started, as he had been hoping to test himself in regards to combat, and this time around had been for something similar. [break][break] Despite how it might have looked, Hargrave had managed to make it to level nine a few weeks back. In the time since then, he had spent most of his energy attempting to obtain fully understand the skills that he had managed to acquire. Given that these skills were entirely utility based, he hadn't really thrown himself into the woods and evaluated how his current stats had held up compared to his old ones. Hence why he was out in the forested region now. [break][break] "Let's see.. If I can recall what I encountered way back when, there should be a few things in the area. Slimes, goblins, wolves, and undead of varying degree. At the moment, they can't really hold up all that well when compared to my defenses. And yet I still find myself incapable of actually defeating one.. Hopefully there is another individual within these parts this go around, so that I don't have to drag the mobs all the way back to Paradis with me." [break][break] The dwarf would find himself letting out of a soft yawn as he had continued on his way, meandering about throughout the Greatwood. Eventually he would stumble upon something that had grabbed his attention however, dragging him right out of his stupor. It was hard to really make out, considering the vast height difference between himself and what he had believed to be sticking out among the trees, but if he wasn't mistaken, Hargrave was certain that he was witnessing a custom Siegfriedian panzer making its rounds. This was quite the interesting sight to see in the Greatwood, given that Hargrave had grown so accustomed to actually seeing them within Siegfried. [break][break] As his gaze had fallen upon the panzer, the dwarf wouldn't be able to contain the smile that had begun to overtake him. 'If there's a panzer this far out than it's entirely likely that a player is nearby. Wouldn't make all that much sense for a Siegfriedian NPC to be making the rounds out here after all. I should go and introduce myself.' With that, Hargrave would start to increase the rate in which he had been pushing forward. Eventually he would find himself pushing through the brush of the woods to step into sight of the panzer pilot. [break][break] Making his way into the clearing, Hargrave would stumble upon a woman with blue hair. Given that the panzer was directly behind her, Hargrave could easily put two and two together, ultimately deducing that this was the presumed player that he had been searching for. "Uh.. Hey there!" A bit of an awkward tone had begun to overtake the dwarf as he had introduced himself, a slight tinge of red donning his cheeks. Communication was always so difficult.. Even for he who was attempting to become a merchant of sorts. [break][break] "First time in the Greatwood?" There was no real way of actually knowing how frequently the woman before him had entered this deep into the Greatwood. Even still, he could only assume as much given that he had never encountered her here in the past. "If so, I can, uh.. I, Hargrave, would be willing to assist you in making your way through." No matter how awkward things might have been with his speech, it was likely more awkward that he had refused to make eye contact with the woman. In fact, his gaze had been focused solely on the panzer that had stood behind her.

Oh, Jockey, you're so fine, so fine you blow my mind I just might let you come into my life and waste my time
Ironically, though she asked about other people being around Jockey didn't actually expect people to be around and assumed she would be alone. So, when the voice of a dwarf seemingly spawned out of thin air it surprised her. Normally, there'd be a sound of some sort but the automaton instead froze for a second as if ceasing function. After experiencing the virtual equivalent of a heart attack, she creaked her way into the direction of the voice and was met with the image of a dwarf. He was stout and fierce looking, but his face showed kindness and warmth. Jockey would feel bad not responding in kind.
"Oh, um, hello there." She spoke with a terrified candor, still recovering from the effects of being startled mere moments prior. Her eyes began to scan the dwarf up and down, taking note of his well-tailored beard and pristine clothing. At just a glance, he seemed to have traveled through the greatwood just fine, which brought Jockey to wonder if there was actually anything in this forest. It would help if she put away the robot...
Anyways, the dwarf offered a helping hand and Jockey wasn't exactly the type to turn down opportunities like this. Wherever this monster was, it would be much easier to find with the two of them rather than just herself. "I would be delighted to have you along, but I'm not lost actually. Looking for a special monster that's been said to live in these woods. A type of goblin." She spoke as if reciting the information, as if it was ingrained deep into her person. In a way, it sort of was. Currently, finding this Mind Goblin was her prime directive so there wasn't much else on her mind. "My name is Jo-" She stopped herself, having an in moment decision on whether or not she wanted to go full immersion or keep the player aspect known. With the giant robot behind her, she figured to commit to the role. "Automaton, jockey model. Please call me Jockey." With a step, then another, she approached Hargrave and extended a hand out.

[attr="class","liliya-post-1"]
[attr="class","liliya-post-2"] Upon hearing that the woman before him had been searching for a special type of goblin, Hargrave would find himself tilting his head off to the side. "Is that so? Well first and foremost, I'm glad to hear that you haven't found yourself lost out here. Without quite a bit of experience, or the compass spell, find your ones way out of the Greatwood tends to be an exhausting experience. Or I tend to think so anyways." He couldn't help but shrug after that, continuing on in the conversation. "As for a special type of goblin? I can't really say that I've seen any other breed of goblin out here, aside from the usual. Then again, I haven't ever encountered the ancient dragon that is rumored to reside in these woods either." [break][break] Fully accepting that there might be another type of goblin roaming throughout the area, Hargrave would follow suit and extend a hand out to the automaton. Today must have been full of firsts because he had yet to encounter a variant of a regular mob, and despite spending most of his time in Siegfried, he had yet to encounter a player automaton. Until today that is. Hoping to continue to make a good impression, and to dissuade the terror that the automaton had initially exhibited, Hargrave would allow for his smile to grow into a toothy grin and would proceed to shake the woman's hand. [break][break] "It, uh, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance Jockey. As you can see," he would say whilst pulling his hand free of Jockey's grasp whilst gesturing to himself. "I'm that of the dwarf race. Level nine at that. As a great shielder, I should be able to pull away the attention of any and all mobs within the area, if we find ourselves in combat. Then you can move to take them out with your panzer." [break][break] This wasn't exactly the best time to be focusing on tactical aspects and yet it only felt natural to slip into the conversation. If they were intending on traversing deeper into the Greatwood after all, then it would be best for the two of them to figure out their combat sense when together. "If you don't mind my asking, have you done battle with goblins before this? Or will this be your first time? I apologize if this is too much question asking on my end.. I just feel as though it's best for us to understand what one another is capable of before heading deeper into the forest."
